It’s no secret that MerusCase fits a wide variety of case types - but even within the broad practice area of Personal Injury, you can construct case files that are specific to the exact scenario you’re working on! Indeed, each new PI case can be classified into one of five types: Motor Vehicle, Premise Liability,  Product Liability, Medical Malpractice, or General.

Like all MerusCase users, PI lawyers can choose from hundreds of court forms and documents to auto-populate with specific case information. You can also create custom templates using our Microsoft Word integration with QuickSave:

As you work with MerusCase templates, you’ll notice that each of the PI types has its own unique set of merge fields.

This is useful for many type-specific documents, but sometimes you need templates that can be applied generally across all PI types. For example, if you're writing a client letter that goes to all clients regardless of PI type, you want to use merge fields that aren't exclusive to any particular type. To use a single template across all types, simply input the fields next to each other without any spaces in between.

For example, to merge the Date of Incident, paste the merge fields accordingly:

«GENERAL_INCIDENTS:date_of_incident»«VEHICLE_ACCIDENTS:date_of_accident»
«PREMISE_LIABILITY:date_of_incident»«MALPRACTICES:date_of_incident»«PRODUC
T_LIABILITIES:date_of_accident»

This ensures that the DOI gets merged irrespective of the type of PI Case.
