How to Sync Your Contacts & Calendar with MerusCase [Apple]

MerusCase syncs your firm’s calendar, events, and contacts with your Apple devices. Whether you're using an iPhone, iPad, or laptop, you can access your calendar and contacts by using your preferred calendar application. MerusCase will sync events that are assigned to you from one month in the past to six months in the future. You can also sync your firm contact list to the address book on your Apple device. All contacts (excluding companies) are imported.

How to Sync Your iPhone/iPad Calendar

  1. From your iPhone/iPad, go to Settings
  2. Scroll to and select Mail, Contacts, and Calendars
  3. Select Add Account...
  4. Select Other from the list. 
  5. Under the Calendars list, select Add CalDAV Account
  6. Enter the following: 

- Server: cal.meruscase.com

- Your MerusCase user name and password. (You can display the calendars of multiple users on your device by repeating these steps and entering in the appropriate credentials.)
- Give the calender a description, such as Johnny's MerusCase Calendar. 
The device will then verify the information and create a new calender upon successful verification of the username and password. After the device has verified this information, open the calendar app on your mobile device. Your events and appointments should start syncing immediately.

Please note: The amount of time this initial sync needs to take place is based on the number of events to sync. Once the events are synced, it may take a few minutes for them to update on your device(s).

How to Choose the Contacts that Sync

If you don't change your settings you may import all of your contacts from Merus unless you change your settings. This can be the several thousands of contacts listed in your firm and it can take awhile to update. You may only want specific types of people updated in your contact list, such as applicant or defense attorneys.

  1. Go to Tools > Settings & Options.
  2. Click User Preferences.
  3. Go to the Synchronization Options.
  4. Select the type of contacts you want to sync.

How to Sync Mac OS iCal

  1. Start iCal. 
  2. Go to Preferences and select the Accounts tab. 
  3. Create a New Account
  4. Select CalDAV as the account type. If you are using a newer OSX, select Manual
  5. Enter in the following Server address: cal.meruscase.com 
  6. Enter your MerusCase username and password. 
  7. Click Create. Upon successful creation, you will see this screen. 

Once the account is created, iCal will generate new calendars for you (titled "MerusCase Calendar") and reminders, which will appear below the account name on the calendar list.

Your calendar may look different depending on the version of your operating system.

How to Sync iPhone/iPad

  1. Go to Settings
  2. Scroll to and select Mail, Contacts, and Calendars
  3. Click Add Account
  4. Select Other from the list. 
  5. Select the Add CardDAV Account under the Contacts section. 
  6. Type in the following for Server: card.meruscase.com 
  7. Enter in your MerusCase username and password. 
  8. Provide a description. 

After the user and password information has been verified, the new Contacts Account will appear. Please note that the more contacts you are syncing, the longer the initial sync will take. To view these new contacts, open the Contacts app on your device. Navigate to Groups and select the newly created MerusCase account. Here you will see all of your firm's contacts.

How to Sync Mac OS

  1. Start Address Book
  2. Go to Preferences and select the Accounts tab. 
  3. Create a new Account
  4. Select CardDAV as the Account Type
  5. Enter your MerusCase username and password. 
  6. Enter in the following Server: card.meruscase.com 
  7. Wait for verification and click Create

Once your log-in information has been verified, a new Contact Group will appear with all of your contacts from MerusCase.

A Few Tips for Contacts & Calendar Syncing

  • You can add and edit events and contacts from your iPhone/desktop, but you cannot delete them. 
  • Once you create an event on your device, browse to Firm Events in MerusCase, and the event will appear. If it does not appear right way (as your Apple device will need to first "push" data to MerusCase), click Sync
  • The more contacts you have in your firm, the longer the initial sync will take. 
  • If you are not able to sync on your iPhone, make sure the port is set to 443 under Advanced Settings.
