New Feature Spotlight: Family Law Case Types

Attention Family Law firms! We've heard your voices, and are proud to show off some of the brand-new features we're including in our latest release, MerusCase 4.8. We hope this helps confirm that MerusCase is a top Family Law software choice!

We've split up the 'Family Law' case type to allow for easier, more streamlined case management.

In MerusCase 4.8, there are now 4 different case types under the 'Family Law' umbrella:

  • Family Law - General
  • Family Law - Custody
  • Family Law - Divorce
  • Family Law - Spousal Support

You'll also see the current 'Family Law' case type as well (More on that at the end).

We've included new case-specific tabs in each case type

We know that you'll be tracking different information in each case type, so we're helping to set your cases up for success!

This is more than just data entry - you can pull the content of the Family Law tabs right into your templates. That means better templates and easier document automation!

Each case type tab has a field for Court Case Number, so you can track the court-assigned identifier in addition to your own file number for in-office tracking.

Family Law - Custody

The Custody case type has all the fields you need to capture essential information about the custody arrangements in your case.

The Custody tab will display the Petitioner(s) and Respondent(s), as well as current and proposed custody agreements. This means easy tracking of the current agreement alongside the proposed changes, and no more hunting for the most recent custody arrangement!

Family Law - Divorce

The Divorce case type is equipped to easily track information about the marriage, separation, prenuptial agreement, and other vital info for a divorce case. The key details can now be tracked all in one place - the Divorce tab!

Family Law - Spousal Support

The Spousal Support case type allows you to conveniently manage support agreements in the Spousal Support tab.

The Spousal Support tab displays the Petitioner(s), Respondent(s), and the current and proposed support agreements. You can now manage new proposals alongside the current agreement, which allows easy comparison. If the proposed agreement suits you and your client's needs, the Approve Proposal button will update the current proposal to reflect that update. You can even track the date of the last edit to the agreement, all in one place!

Family Law - General

The General case type is a catch-all for all the cases that don't fall into the categories above. At the moment, General tab only has a section for the Court Case Number, but we are looking to update this with the fields you need!

If you have a suggestion for the General tab, click the Compose Message link in the General tab. That will automatically start drafting an email to MerusCase Support - all you need to do is enter your suggestions and hit Send!

We're looking forward to hearing your feedback on how we can improve the Family Law - General Case Type!
