In case you missed our blog post last week (don’t worry, we all make mistakes), we want to highlight one of the most exciting changes to take place in our recent Version 4.1 release: the radical expansion of Allocation Mode. Its induction is a powerful differentiator for firms that use MerusCase billing; Allocation Mode allows you to see beyond the hours and amounts your billers are logging, and gives you insight into how much money each biller is responsible for - after discounts, write-offs and expenses.

Activities

• In case activities, events now include a When component for easier viewing of date and time that the event takes place

Books

• More accurate display of Invoices at a Glance graph

Case Files

• Improved behavior when removing statutes from injuries and incidents
• Immigration
  • Repeatedly clicking the disabled Delete Form button no longer causes server errors

Case Ledgers

• Editing a ledger entry that was previously saved with no hours no longer sets the hours to the minumum value (.1 or .6, depending on firm preference)

Contacts

• No longer able to remove the primary party from a case using the contact's Cases list

Documents

• Documents tagged with an activity tag that triggers a workflow no longer lose that tag when subsequently saved using the Save to Merus button

Invoices

• Improved clarity of invoicing/billing dates by displaying both Invoice Date and Invoice Period (From and To) on PDF invoices
  • Additional preference: Margin above 'Invoice Date' Table, for placement of the new dates information
• Open as PDF button in Open/Paid Invoices now includes an option to download the selected invoices as a zipped file of individual invoices rather than a single PDF of all invoices
• Removed ability to delete invoices that have been marked Delivered (have a Delivered Date set)
  • Clearing the Delivered Date will allow the invoice to be deleted
• Bill To and Attn are now displayed in the invoice's view
• When deleting an invoice, any applied discounts are now properly deleted as well
• Improved experience during Allocation Mode (applying receivables across individual invoiced ledger entries)

Messages

• Better display of accents and other special characters when viewing messages from Meruscase in other email programs
• When linking messages to a case as a batch, including the Sender information in the genrated activity description is now an option
• Sending the PDF version of an MSWord document no longer attaches the file using a random file name

Parties

• Display of party group order in Parties view now matches the order set in the Party Group Order preference

Reports

• More accurate output in Case Access History report
• Better handling of dates when running the A/R Payments Received report
• New cash flow reports
  • Cash Flow by Billing Contact (Payor)
  • Cash Flow by User
  • Cash Flow by Attorney Responsible

Time Tracking

• Corrected tab order in time tracking widget

Workflows

• Events created by a workflow can now have a Start Time and Duration set

• Numbers in Excel exports are now treated as numbers by Excel rather than text
