New MerusCase Video is Out on Lawyerist.com

About a month ago, the marketing team at Lawyerist asked to take some shots of MerusCase and create a video for their MerusCase Review Page.

The video does a great job of giving a brief overview of all the selling points of MerusCase. However there are two points mentioned in this video, and listed on the Review Page that we'd like to take some time and clarify: 1) the Lack of 3rd Party Integrations for MerusCase and 2) the fact that there is no native MerusCase app. At first, these are seen as drawbacks but we believe these points are actually great advantages.

Lack of 3rd Party Integrations

It's true; MerusCase is light on 3rd party integrations. That's not to say we don't have any integrations. For example we built Save to Merus,  a Microsoft Word integration that allows you to save your documents directly into MerusCase. When we create integrations we think long and hard about them so the 3rd party integrations that exist are meaningful and well designed.

Believe it or not, there are actually many downsides to 3rd Party integrations, almost all of which stem from a lack of control over your supplier's relationship.

You know how when you call in for Merus support, our wonderful support team is there to answer? Unfortunately, it doesn't work that way with 3rd party API. 3rd Party APIs can modify their service whenever they want without prior notice, with limited or no support.

Our competitors tend to have hundreds of integrations, but upon closer inspection, you'll notice that a lot of these integrations are redundant in a way. For example, why do you need multiple calendar integrations when you can just use MerusCase Calendar instead? If everyone at your firm uses MerusCase calendar, you'll all be on the same page.

No Native Apps

MerusCase isn't in the Android or iOS app store, but that doesn't mean we aren't mobile-friendly. MerusCase works wonderfully on your phone's browser. We believe it's easier for you, our customer, to not have to download yet another app from the app store. The extra work of typing meruscase.com/cms into your browser can be easily mitigated by creating a bookmark on your home screen and from there, MerusCase functions identically to any app you would otherwise download directly to your phone.

Anyways, what do you think of the video? Let us know in the comments below!
