Recently, Merus has moved its help articles from a Blogger hosted site to our own in house site - meruscase.com. This gives us more design control on how users interact with our articles and makes them more easily accessible to our users. Unfortunately, in our manual copy of the source code from Blogger to our own hosted website, all of our article's photos were still linking back to the old help articles on Blogger.
Initially, I thought the only way of transferring photos would be to download or redo every single photo and then upload it and reference it on our new site. This seemed like a task I would never want to start and would definitely never finish. However, after some digging and a few nifty Google searches, I stumbled upon Google Takeout which gives you access to backups of all your Google data and made this migration of photos from Blogger to Merus that much simpler!
Services Google Takeout provides a backup for. |
Follow these simple steps to get a back up of your data:
- Navigate to Google Takeout and log-in to the Google account you'd like to access data from.
- You can download an archive from all your data or you can toggle "Choose Services" if you'd like to download from just one or a few services.
- Once a service is selected (like Google + Photos if you want to download Blogger post images like I did), a box will appear that shows Google's progress prepping your download of data.
- Once it reaches 100%, click on Create Archive.
- You'll be taken to a new page, once you see the progress bar filled and the green "Complete", click on Download to get all your backup data!
Once this widow reaches 100%, click Create Archive. |
Once you get the green go of Complete, click Download and enjoy the back up of your files! |
