Just in time for the holidays we're pleased to bring you some MerusCase goodies fresh out of the oven. 

This release includes the following improvements and fixes to known issues.

Non-Billable Time Tracking:  Starting this release, our users will be able to generate ledgers for non-billable time. These ledgers are generated in the same way as any other, but once you select this ledger type the rate will default to N/A, the amount will be set to 0.00 and both fields will be grayed out as it appears in the second image.

When our users include these ledgers in their invoices or export to BCS billing (for those users that do) they will be able to show their clients those services that were provided at no cost to them.  The following image shows how these items will show in the BCS billing export.

Linking Messages to Case en Masse:  We added a new way for our users to simplify their work by selecting and linking several messages to a case in one go, instead of one by one.  Look for the Link to Case button in Inbox and Sent.

Each one of the messages you attach to a case in this way will generate its own activity, of course.


New "Consult Only" Case Type:  This release introduces a new case type for those cases that do not involve a cause of action. Consult Only cases have a "client" instead of a plaintiff and this client is set as the billing party by default.

Minor Features & Refinements:

• Case names update faster and under more circumstances when attaching/detaching a company from a defendant, as well as when updating the name of the defendant's employer.
• Senior Associate Handling merge fields added to templates.
• Reports show Case names instead of Applicant/Plaintiff name in order to be consistent with the rest of the application.
• Nomenclature for Applicant/Plaintiff party updated according to the case type.
• Delete option added for SMTP outbound accounts.
• MerusCase now supports .dotx document uploads. Messages that are sent with .dotx attachments will now show the attachments.
• Messages can be deleted from Dashboard.
• Activities generated by attaching a message to a case now reflect the date the message was sent, rather than the current date.
• Further refinements to caching for activities and messages.
• Improvements to Global Search. Searching for your uploads is now easier and faster.
