In our 3.9 release that we've been rolling out over the past week to all of our clients, you now have the ability to add an infinite amount of addresses. This allows you to track a contact's Previous Addresses as well as his/her current Physical and Mailing Address.
Adding a New Current Address
- Navigate to the desired contact
- Once on the Contact Details Tab, click Edit.
- Scroll down to the Address Section.
- Click Add.
- Select a Label from the drop-down menu to indicate if this is a Physical or Mailing Address.
- Enter Street, City, Zip, etc.
- Enter the Move-In Date ONLY.
Pro Tip 1: If you enter a Move-Out Date, this address will no longer be listed as current and will instead be listed under the Previous Addresses Tab.
Adding a New Previous Address
From the Contact Details Tab:
All you have to do is follow the same steps outlined in Adding a New Address, but also enter a Move-Out Date.
- Click Edit.
- Scroll down to the Address Section.
- Click Add.
- Select a Label from the drop-down menu to indicate if this is a Physical or Mailing Address.
- Enter Street, City, Zip, etc.
- Enter the Move-In Date & Move-Out Date.
Pro Tip 1: Entering an anticipated Move-Out Date will not move this address to the Previous Addresses tab until that date has passed.
Pro Tip 2: In order for an address to be considered a Previous Address, a Move-Out Date must be entered.
From the Previous Addresses Tab:
- Navigate to the desired contact record by going to Contacts > Browse Contacts.
- Select the Previous Addresses tab.
- In the top right corner, click the blue Add Previous Addresses link to add a new entry.
Marking an Address as Primary
With multiple addresses, it is now necessary to Mark an Address as Primary. By setting a Primary Address, you're telling MerusCase which address to merge into your firm's letter templates and court forms. Check out this help article for a step-by-step guide.
Along with multiple addresses, you can also add multiple phone numbers, fax numbers, email addresses, and aliases for a contact. Please note that for all of these additional contact sections (excluding aliases), you will need to mark a primary as well.
