We at Merus simply can't believe that the end of the year is already here - 2016 flew by! We want to make sure we have a great year ahead and that we enjoy every minute of it; so, we're setting ourselves up for success with a simple-but-rewarding January success plan!
For 4 weeks, we'll focus on mindfulness, healthy eating habits, exercise and organization - and we want you to join us! Check out the resources we've provided and keep us posted on your journey by tweeting at us with your experiences, feelings, and reactions. Each week will provide a fresh start and an opportunity to focus entirely on improving one aspect of daily life.
So... what exactly does this plan entail?
Week 1: Meditating
Meditation does not have to be hard, nor does it have to take a long time - we even found an app that guides you through 5-minute sessions (it works wonders!). Whether you just close your eyes at your desk, or you make room to stretch out and lie down on the floor, 5 minutes per day is all you need to gain a completely new perspective, and clear and calm your mind.
Join us from January 1 - January 7 for daily 5-minute morning meditation sessions to clear your mind and start each day on a great note. We've even included a list of resources you can use to get going on your first-week journey. Also, follow us on Twitter at @meruscase to join our live meditation sessions every morning right at your desk.
Week 2: Eating Mindfully
No, we will not include a list of foods you should eat or shouldn't eat. We're not doctors.
Instead, we've decided to test out "Buddha's Diet", as inspired by an article about a tech CEO who follows it on a daily basis. From January 8 to January 14, the goal is to eat for only 8 hours a day, and fast the rest of the time. (Don't worry, you are allowed to drink water and tea all day.)
Check out our list of resources to help you test out this method and see if it works for you. Follow our adventure on Twitter as well at @meruscase.
Week 3: Exercising
Whether you're a novice or a super-athlete, exercise should be a part of your daily routine. We'll be trying out new workouts this week to see what works best for us and what we can incorporate in our exercise routine for the rest of the year.
Again, we're not experts on this - this is purely a way to motivate you to start your new year with your health and well-being on your mind.
January 15 to January 21: whether you take a half-hour walk, or start training for a marathon, this is the week to start your adventure and set yourself up for success for the rest of the year.
Check out our list of resources you can use to get you started and follow our adventure on Twitter at @meruscase.
Week 4: Decluttering
What's the saying? "If a cluttered desk is a sign of a cluttered mind, of what, then, is an empty desk a sign?"
Well, no offense to Albert Einstein, but sometimes we need a fresh start! This week we'll be cleaning house while reading a best-selling book on decluttering your life. Check out our list of resources for your 1-week cleaning adventure from January 22 to January 28, and watch us on Twitter at @meruscase as we declutter our desks, our home offices, and homes for a fresh start to the new year.
Aftermath: Sharing Our Success!
After 4 weeks of meditating, eating mindfully, exercising and decluttering, we all deserve an award! Share your adventure with us and let us know how you did, and we'll do the same!
Happy 2017!
