Version 6.5.3 “Larissa” Release Notes
New Features:
Ability for firm admins to hide the ‘Most Productive Members’ Graph and ‘Most Ambitious Billers’ Graph- Firm Admins now have the ability to hide either graphs for all users of the firm, by going to Tools & Settings > Systemwide Settings > Dashboard.
- Admins can tick the boxes of the graphs they wish to hide, click save, and settings will be implemented.
- If Firm Admins leave the ‘Most Ambitious Billers’ Graph unhidden, individual users (with permissions) still have the ability to hide the visibility of that graph by going to My Preferences.
Ability to notify more users than just Attorney Responsible
- The Recent PDFs table now includes an additional “Notify Other Staff” option for unassigned documents visible directly below the “Notify Attorney Responsible” checkbox. The “Notify Other Staff” option includes a “Select Colleagues” drop-down menu that works the same as adding staff to events, including options for every branch office as well as individual active staff accounts.
- When the selected document is saved to the case, an email message sent to all selected staff (including the Attorney Responsible, if selected) is sent out as before, with case and document names displayed as intended.
Enhanced ability to edit email attachment names
- If a document is already within a case file and it is renamed as an attachment, both items remain independent. This means the original document will continue to have the same name and the email attachment will have the updated document name. Renaming the document as an email attachment will not add a new document within the case activity, and will only be associated with the email.
Fixes:
- DWC packets are now consistently accessible from the Case File Activities table, in addition to the DWC E-file Packets table.
- Demographics and Generic POS built-in templates are merging properly and successfully.
Other Updates
Note for Microsoft 365 (formerly Office 365) users:
You will need to generate app passwords from your Microsoft 365 account, if your firm has enabled multi-factor authentication. Below are the steps involved:
- Carefully read and follow these instructions from Microsoft on generating app passwords. Note that there are three different ways to do this, two of which are for business accounts, while the last is for a personal account. If you have a business account, then try the first, then second option, until you get to the menu where you can create the app password.
- You will then copy the app password (once you close the menu, you’ll never see it again; it’s for one-time use only) and paste it in lieu of your normal email password in the Email Setup menu in MerusCase, as per the aforementioned instructions. Any app password you created in your Microsoft 365 account should be usable immediately after.
If you’re unable to authenticate with the app password, then the Microsoft 365 administrator at your firm will need to take the following steps:
- Navigate to the Microsoft 365 admin portal here. Then go to the Users menu on the left and click on the name of each user listed, which will open a menu on the right, then click the Mail link and ensure that all options are checked (IMAP, Authenticated SMTP, etc.) This must be done for each user.
- Follow these instructions to enforce (not just enable) multi-factor authentication for each user (note, though, that you should ensure the users have entered alternate contact data and/or downloaded the Microsoft authenticator app to their cell phones before enforcing).
3. For those who created a Microsoft 365 account after March 2021, you may need to also disable security defaults in the Azure Directory via these steps. …
