Wow, what a year it has been! 2021 brought some of the same, and some of the new as we continue to live through and evolve with an ever-changing global pandemic. Through the ups —and downs — of the last 12 months, we’ve been proud to serve our loyal customers and we’re excited to tackle the challenges of 2022 together.
The reliance on technology in the legal sector has never been higher. Each and every day we strive to provide the very best product with the knowledge that for many of our customers, the tools we’re responsible for developing are vital to their firm’s success. There is much to look forward to in 2022, but before we do, let’s take a look back at a few of the moments that we’re particularly proud of this past year.
Greater customization to match internal processes
As MerusCase has grown, so have our customers. One piece of feedback that was repeatedly brought up in 2021 was the need for customizable data fields since internal processes have begun to change for many firms. This year we introduced custom fields to MerusCase, making it simple to create unique fields that can be used across all of a firm’s matters and clients. With five different field types, including text, number, currency, date, and yes/no options, the intuitive drag and drop functionality allows anybody to create a usable form in just minutes.
Keeping court dates in order
A lawyer’s calendar is a lifeline. If a firm missed a calendar deadline from a court, there could be severe repercussions. That’s why in 2021 we enabled law firms to track court rules directly in MerusCase. Using a court rules system ensures that the small details of a court proceeding are never missed and that when deadlines shift — so does a firm’s internal calendar.
With regulations changing at a rapid pace due to fluctuating COVID-19 restrictions, it’s never been more important to be directly plugged into a jurisdiction’s schedule. The MerusCase team was proud to provide increased scheduling clarity to our customers this year.
Making research faster than ever
Our integrated legal research tool allows MerusCase users to enter search terms directly into AnyLaw to stay on top of cases and the most recent jurisprudence without ever leaving MerusCase. Searches can be completed by topic, jurisdiction, or even by recently decided cases.
Client communication, simplified
Keeping clients up to date at a moment’s notice is crucial, and in a remote-first environment, oftentimes the quickest way to reach a client is via text messaging. We partnered with CaseStatus to allow MerusCase customers to communicate with clients via SMS messaging. This integration not only handles the messaging but all communication is posted back directly to a user’s account meaning all files that are shared such as medical records or important images are stored safely and accurately within a case or matter.
Looking towards 2022
With the recent investment from Francisco Partners, 2022 is set to be a year full of growth for not only us, but for the firms we serve every day.
